Arrival in MARRAKECH. Welcome to Morocco! Transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon we include a horse-drawn carriage ride to the famous Jemaa Square. Dinner included.
We are in one of the most fascinating cities of the world. We will include a city tour to admire its strong walls, the Kutubya tower, and the Jemaa square; we will also walk around its colourful Medina. Entrance to Bahia Palace. Lunch is included. There will be free time in the afternoon: you can take a rest in the pool and the garden of the hotel, or walk around the Medina with its many shops, riads (small hotels), and restaurants established in beautiful historical buildings which have been perfectly preserved. We strongly recommend visiting the area where the “Secret Garden” and the Music Museum are located. At night, if you wish, you can experience the Fantasy Party, an optional visit offered
We will journey across the Atlas Mountains as their, usually snow-capped, high peaks will greet us as we say goodbye to Marrakech. Small Berber villages perch on the side of chasms. We will make a stop at the fortified village of AIT BENHADDOU, a place where several movies have been filmed. Our route will be going through the so-called biblical landscapes. We will spend some time in OUARZAZATE city with its impressive Kasbah. We will continue toward the valley of Roses. BOUMALNE DADES. Dinner included. NOTE: On very rare occasions (during winter), the roads may be closed due to snowdrifts. If necessary, this section of the itinerary will be rescheduled according to our alternative itinerary. (The access to Sahara will depend on road conditions).
A journey full of excitement in the Sahara Desert: the Valley of the Kasbahs; river valleys containing thousands of palm trees; Stone plains followed by oasis and adobe villages, powerful fortresses defending the thoroughfares. We will visit the stunningly magnificent TODGHA GORGE. On the way there, we will make a stop at a small town built with adobe next to KHORBAT, visitors will be able to learn about this desert community. (Note: due to weather conditions, such as river flooding, access might not be possible sometimes).We will continue towards ERFOUD. Lunch included. Those who´d like to, could go by off-road to the sand dunes of the Sahara Desert and experience the dusk among the dunes.
We will leave Erfoud early, crossing the Atlas amidst powerful gorges and stunning landscapes. We then cross a high and cold plateau area inhabited by nomadic shepherds. Stop at MIDELT, in the center of this region. After lunch we continue our route towards the Middle Atlas, the landscape changes completely, we are in a region with forests and where it snows frequently in winter. Near AZROU, in the National Park we visit "the house of the cedars", a small museum that illustrates about the region, we will be amused by the colonies of monkeys that inhabit this area. We continue to BHALIL, small and quiet town inhabited by Berbers of the middle Atlas with a very picturesque old city center with colorful streets, traditionally the population lived in caves, today these caves have been integrated into the houses. Continue to FEZ, before going to the hotel we will admire the view of the city from the Saadian tombs. Dinner included.
We include a visit to FEZ, we enter through the Bronze doors of the Royal Palace, Jewish quarter, its lively souks, the tanners´ quarter. The cultural capital of the country houses the oldest university in the world. The city of Fez was founded in the ninth century and is known for its impressive Medina that preserves like no other the traditional Arab atmosphere. At the end of the visit, lunch included in an ancient palace of the Medina. After lunch we travel to the archaeological site of VOLUBILIS, declared a World Heritage Site, founded in the third century BC, the city of Volubilis, capital of Mauritania Tingitana, was an important military outpost of the Roman Empire in which multiple monuments of great beauty were erected. Admission included. MULAY IDRIS is a holy city and pilgrimage site for Muslims in Morocco because Mulay Idris, great-grandson of Mohamed and founder of the first royal dynasty of Morocco, is buried there. The city is very close to Volubilis and was closed to non-Muslims until 1912. Until 2005, non-Muslims could not stay overnight there. We will continue to MEKNES, dinner and lodging.
Visit MEKNES, another fascinating city declared a World Heritage Site, founded for military purposes in the eleventh century by the Almoravids, was the capital of the kingdom in the time of Sultan Muley Ismaíl (1672-1727), founder of the Alaouite dynasty. This sovereign built an impressive city of Spanish-Moorish style, surrounding it with high walls, marked by monumental doors. We will be astonished by the immense gate of Bab el Mansur, the activity in the square el Hedim (reminiscent of the D, Jemaa square of Marrakesh). We include admission to the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. After the visit, you will have free time and then we will continue our journey by bus. Time for lunch in the service area and arrival in RABAT, city tour of the capital of the Kingdom. We visit the powerful fortress of the Oudaia, the Hassan tower where the mausoleum of King Mohamed V is located, the walls of the Andalusians, the outer enclosure of the Royal Palace and the modern quarters of embassies. After our visit, free time and continuation of route. CASABLANCA - Arrival at the end of the day. Dinner included.
This morning we include a sightseeing tour with a local guide to get to know the largest city and economic center of Morocco. We will walk through its great avenues, the beautiful square of Mohamed V with its fountain Moorish buildings and palm trees and through the park of the Arab league. We also visit little Medina. We include the admission and visit to the huge mosque of Hassan II (the only mosque in Morocco where non-Muslims are allowed to enter), located next to the sea, with its 210-meter-high minaret with laser lights on top pointing to Mecca. After that we will have free time for lunch in the pleasant maritime area of "la corniche". Then, we will head to MARRAKECH. Dinner included in the hotel.
